"…he told me to live every day again. Almost exactly the same. The first time with all the tensions and worries that stop us from noticing how sweet the world can be.
But the second time… noticing."
Morning … for the day is you, and the light is you, the sun is you, and all the beautiful, beautiful awaiting life is you.

There are years that ask questions
and years that answer them.
Zora Neale Hurston
This is an apology letter to the both of us for how long it took me to let things go.
"keep doing what you're doing// just because I'm not visible doesn't mean I'm not valuable// I don't need a better assignment to experience a greater anointing// we are mourning over what God has called us to move on from// How can God empower you in a situation that you are spending all your energy trying to escape?"
Steven Furtick 1.5.14
my heart is a wolf
ruled by two moons:
one which beckons me back into the night,
the other is calling me home.
There's such pressure for a "fresh start" that seeks to drastically change your circumstance.
It's exhausting to have that expectation that this drastic change or fresh start will change everything.
It's thinking that change will make you a new person. And you're not. You're the same person in that situation. It's trying to escape something within you that you have to learn to accept. And who you are is who you will be forever. There are some things you can't change about yourself. Or at least you shouldn't.
Strive to be the best version of your self, but not a different version of yourself.
To the beginnings of a new year.
May our view be gracious, our hearts thankful, and our bodies rested.

Here's to 2014.
Kiss the cat. kiss your mother. kiss my mother. kiss Chris Brown. etc. Listen to music. in the kitchen. in the streets. in the night. Listen to your body. Rest when it needs it. Be patient, with others, and with yourself. Be wise with your time. Be courageous. Be still. Be content in the now. Seek the positive in the here and now. Go and explore. Go here and there. Go outside. Read books. Read the bible. Speak with confidence in your words. Speak with care. Leave work at work. Leave expectation behind. Live here and now. Live patiently. Live simply. Live slowly.
Here's to a year of seeking all the good it has to offer, listening to more music, exploring the richness around us, and living fully in the moment.
